My Story…
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page!
My name is Jess, I was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer in 2019. After undergoing multiple surgeries and treatments, I thought I would take my oral medication and be on my merry way.
Cancer had other plans…
In October 2023, I felt a lump in my armpit and was told I was having a local recurrence. I had to beg for a PET scan and thankfully I did because that’s when they discovered it had not only been in my armpit but in my liver and lymph nodes in my chest. I was then diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer. I had the tumor removed, radiation to my liver and was given new medications.
In July of 2024, after having a brain MRI it was discovered that I had, “innumerable” metastatic lesions on my skull. My oncologist told me that metastatic lesions don’t just appear on the skull and that they typically travel fr the spine. Subsequently, I had an MRI of my entire spine that revealed, “innumerable” metastatic lesions in my cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine in addition to lesions on my ribs and clavicle.
Thanks to research and science, I was given the opportunity to take newer approved medications that weren’t available in 2019. It’s because of these medications that my cancer is not active and I am currently stable and THRIVING!
After learning more about what a diagnosis like this meant for me,I realized just how little funding actually goes towards critical life saving research for Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer. Especially from the big name breast cancer foundations that many people are already aware of.
Stage 4 needs more! It’s the only stage without a cure!
METAvivor is the only foundation that donates its funding SOLELY to critical research for Stage 4.
Thank you for donating to this important cause so that we can continue to see the research move closer to finding a cure and save the lives of so many of us affected by breast cancer.
Donate to help Jessica raise money for Jackson METAvivor Glow Walk’s fundraising campaign.
